Though we normally photograph weddings in Washington, DC, we are also destination wedding photographers. When fiancés organize a destination wedding abroad, we are happy to pack our cameras and get on a plane. Before we became DC wedding photographers, we traveled the world in the U.S. Foreign Service. Thanks to those experiences, we can offer our destination wedding brides and grooms more than just the best wedding photography. We are familiar with matrimonial traditions from around the world — we have photographed many an Indian bride, for example. More importantly, we speak six languages fluently and can translate (if needed) while taking wedding photos. We always aim to be full-service destination wedding photographers. If that means helping our Washington clients communicate with other wedding service providers, we are always glad to help.
This particular destination wedding took us to Hannover, Germany, which has become something of a second home for us. Though our wedding and engagement photography business is based in Washington, DC, we spend a lot of time in Germany. Because Anji is from that area originally, we jump at every opportunity to be destination wedding photographers there. This Indian bride and her German husband-to-be tied the knot in an intimate wedding ceremony at Kananohe Alpakahof. The latter is a Hannover alpaca farm and wedding venue that specializes in (unsurprisingly) “alpaca weddings.” We cannot recommend this matrimonial location highly enough to DC brides and grooms looking for a fun destination wedding. Exchanging vows with some incredibly cute animals in the background is a great way to make a wedding unforgettable. It is also guaranteed to lead to some fantastic wedding photography!
What makes pictures of alpaca weddings so great is not just the adorable alpacas photobombing the newlyweds. A marriage celebration like this — be it a destination wedding or a matrimonial event closer to home — is also fun. Washington, DC, weddings can sometimes be stressful on the bride and groom. That is understandable, of course, because all spouses-to-be want their wedding to be perfect. Sometimes, however, the stress on DC brides and grooms is so much that they do not enjoy their nuptials enough. And no Washington wedding photographers ever want that to happen to their clients.
As destination wedding photographers based in DC, we have a lot of experience with stressed-out brides and grooms. We often find that a good laugh is a surefire way to help spouses-to-be keep things in perspective. And alpaca weddings are pretty hard for even the most serious of couples to get through without a smile. Because of how their faces are structured, alpacas seem to be permanently smiling. It is impossible for any DC bride, groom or wedding guest to look directly at one with a straight face.
That was certainly the case with this Indian bride during her destination wedding at Kananohe Alpakahof. Throughout her wedding ceremony, the alpacas in the pen behind the altar kept wandering up to see the show. Or perhaps to see if any of the wedding guests planned to feed them! Either way, the alpacas kept the entire wedding (and destination wedding photographers) amused throughout the marriage celebration. Especially when two of them decided to “kiss” just as the newlyweds were sharing their own for a couples portrait!alpaca weddings (3), Destination wedding photographer (3), destination wedding photographers (6), Indian bride (3).
