We have helped many couples like you document their marriage celebrations in our years as Washington DC wedding photographers. Living and working in the Nation’s Capital has allowed us to photograph a wonderfully diverse array of different kinds of weddings. Though we certainly have not seen (or photographed) it all, we have witnessed a wide range of ways that couples celebrate their love for one another. And that experience has confirmed for us one simple truth: love is love. It really is. No matter the cultures, religions, races or sexual orientations, the feelings that bring two people together in marriage are largely the same. Trust, mutual respect, shared values… These are universal ingredients in a marriage and what weddings are meant to celebrate. And this is why we are proud to serve same sex wedding customers and consider ourselves gay, transgender, queer and lesbian wedding photographers in Washington DC.
This commitment to celebrating love in all its forms feels as natural to us as breathing. Supporting marriage equality and photographing same sex weddings have always been no-brainers for us. So we have photographed lesbian weddings in the DC area and overseas right from the very beginning of our careers.
Our careers as lesbian wedding photographers in Washington DC started with a beautiful same sex barn wedding in suburban DC. We then photographed a rollicking, fun lesbian marriage celebration at Waredaca Brewing Company just outside of the District. More recently, we documented photographically a moving City Club of Washington wedding in downtown Washington DC for a lesbian couple.
We loved having the opportunity to create wedding photos that helped these couples tell their personal love stories. And if you and your female same sex partner are marrying soon, we would be happy to be your lesbian wedding photographers in Washington DC as well.
We captured this particular couples portrait at a wedding outside of the Washington DC metro area. In fact, it took place so far from the Nation’s Capital that it was not even in the United States! Though we are primarily lesbian wedding photographers in Washington DC, we often travel for destination weddings. Because Anji is German, the overseas location in which we photograph most frequently is her home country. In the past couple of years we have taken wedding and engagement pictures of dozens of couples there.
That is what brought us to a lovely rural wedding venue outside of Hannover, Germany, called Ringhotel Forellenhof Walsrode. The two brides who appear in this image selected mainly because its rustic charm made it a perfect site for their outdoor wedding. The venue’s setting also made it ideal for couples portraits. Not far from the main building was a small pond encircled by trees and tall grasses. The bucolic beauty of this area made it an easy choice for the bulk of their wedding portraiture.
We started by asking them to lie down on a little spit of land that jutted out into the pond. Using our DJI Mavic Pro drone, we then took stunning aerial portraits of them cuddling on a blanket. Afterwards, we took them around the shore to a beautiful tree growing in front of a cluster of reeds and tall grasses. It seemed a perfect spot for intimate couples portraits befitting this quietly and privately romantic lesbian couple. To really emphasize that aspect, we asked them to tuck in amid the branches and hold each other closely. The result was an image that any lesbian wedding photographers in Washington DC would be proud to produce. And that any future spouses -- regardless of sexual orientation -- would love to receive!
