Lower Saxony is a state in the northern part of Germany. It is the home to many castles and palaces. Some of those are more than a 1000 years old and have been the hot bed of political power throughout history. They are also popular locations to host ones wedding.
Bückeburg Palace or Schloss Bückeburg as it called in German, was historically the place where the princely family of Schaumburg-Lippe lived. Even though they surrendered their political power in 1918 they continue to live at the palace even today.
A part of the palace is open to the public and hosts an impressive art collection. It is a popular tourist attraction and especially famous for it’s Christmas market or Weihnachtszauber. But the palace is also venue for couples from all over Germany and Europe to get married at.
The beautiful gardens surrounding the palace are reminiscent of a bygone era, where one can imagine ladies in ballroom gowns strolling along the ponds. It is definitely a romantic setting for two people to tie the knot.
As we wandered the palace grounds with the bride and groom we stopped near a pond. There in the water we saw the beautiful reflection of not only the couple, but also the clouds above.
As they posed before their wedding ceremony we took advantage of this unusual setting and took their picture.
