Best Baltimore Wedding Photographers

Even though our wedding and engagement photography business is based just outside of Washington, DC, in Arlington, Virginia, we are always happy to go farther afield to photograph your marriage celebrations. We have helped couples in Germany, India and the Dominican Republic document their nuptials on film, and we are always looking for new opportunities to photograph destination weddings. As we have mentioned elsewhere on this website, we have spent a lot of our lives living outside the United States. Anji was born and raised Germany; Pete was a Peace Corps Volunteer in Mauritania; and we both lived on three different continents while part of the U.S. Foreign Service. As a result, we are experienced travelers who will be comfortable photographing your wedding no matter where you have it.

We like to travel so much that we have even defined our home market for wedding engagement photography pretty broadly. In addition to serving couples in the Washington, DC, metropolitan area, we are also available to photograph weddings in Baltimore, Maryland, or Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Because the former is an easy drive from Washington, we have photographed dozens of marital events in and around The Charm City. The Inner Harbor is a great place to take portraits of newlyweds posing near the water on a sunny summer day, and Federal Hill (which sits across the harbor from downtown Baltimore) offers some great views of the city skyline.

The wedding featured in this particular image started near the Inner Harbor at the swanky Royal Sonesta Harbor Court Baltimore, where the bride and groom got ready and into their wedding attire. From there, their marriage celebrations moved a short way across downtown Baltimore to the beautiful First & Franklin Presbyterian Church for the exchange of vows. For their wedding reception, the lovely couple chose a venue in a slightly more rural part of Baltimore. They and their wedding guests danced the night away in celebration of their nuptials at Cylburn Arboretum, a 207-acre city park just north of Baltimore.

Partly because of the beautiful venues that the newlyweds chose and partly because they and their wedding guests were such lovely people inside and out, we ended up taking hundreds of great photos of the couple getting ready, of them tying the knot and of the entire wedding celebrating the union. This particular picture, however, was arguably our favorite of the day. We have photographed a lot of weddings since we first picked up our cameras, so we know how hard it can be to keep the boys and girls who are picked to be ring bearers and flower girls interested and engaged throughout an entire marriage ceremony. After their jobs are finished, they tend to lose interest in the rest of the proceedings! The particularly adorable little man was not at all shy about showing his disinterest. Once he brought the wedding rings to the altar, he spent the entire rest of the ceremony yawning. And not very discreetly, as most of his yawns were with his mouth wide open! In fact, this particular photo was one of the few that we captured in which the boy was actually trying to cover his mouth with his hand.

As we have mentioned elsewhere on this website, we love getting candid images of children at wedding celebrations. Because kids tend not to filter or stifle their emotions, their faces do a great job of expressing the feelings that they are experiencing at that very moment. Sometimes those emotions (when properly captured in a photo) do a great job of representing what everybody at the wedding is feeling. Other times, as in the case of this picture, what you see on the face of a child in a wedding photograph stands out because it is completely the opposite of the mood of the marriage celebration at that particular moment, adding a bit of visual tension to the composition of the picture.
