Because we live in the Washington, DC area, most of the weddings that we photograph are in and around the Nation’s Capital. That said, we lived overseas for many years before becoming wedding photographers and have traveled to dozens of countries between the two of us. So we certainly don’t mind venturing outside the Washington metro area to help couples document their marriage celebrations! We have taken pictures at numerous nuptial events in Philadelphia, several in Germany, a few in India and even one in the Dominican Republic.
This particular wedding took us up to Stockton, New Jersey, which is located approximately halfway between New York and Philadelphia. Though the town is technically at the outer edge of the New York metro area, one of the largest urban agglomerations in the world, the region and its wedding venues have a very rural vibe. This means that fiancés from New York and Philadelphia looking to tie the knot away from the hustle and bustle of the big city have great options less than 90 minutes from home!
The newlyweds in this photo selected Stone Rows Farm for their wedding venue, and in our opinion, they couldn’t have made a better choice. The site offers rustic elegance for those looking to have a luxury marriage celebration in a rural setting and has a delightfully fun side for those who like to cut loose a little bit. Set on a 272-year-old farm, the wedding location has a options for indoor and outdoor nuptial ceremonies, a beautiful barn for receptions and wealth of spots to take gorgeous couples portraits.
Thanks in part to the natural beauty of Stone Rows Farm, we were able to deliver to the bride and groom several photo albums worth of impactful and unforgettable images of their lovely marriage celebration. From a touching picture of three generations of women working quickly to finish sewing the wedding dress in time for the ceremony to a great shot of the groom cupping his hands over his mouth in mock horror after having accidentally sworn during the best man’s speech, we were delighted to give to the newlyweds photos that showed just how sweet and fun their wedding was.
Of all the great pictures, though, this one might be our favorite. The couple decided to use the time reserved for taking their portraits to take a stroll around the 216-acre grounds of the farm. It was a beautiful summer day, so the newly married husband and wife brought their cute pet dog along for the walk. When they got to this particular part of the farm, we had them stop for a minute. We loved everything about the scene around them: the lines of the fences, the blue of the sky and the green of the grass, and especially how quiet and peaceful everything was. There was nothing to distract attention away from the husband and wife who had just exchanged their vows. So we had them hold hands and gaze into one another’s eyes, and then we took of picture of them looking like the happiest two people in the world.
