Trump and Clinton at Union League Wedding in Philly

Photographing weddings for a living in Washington, DC means that we are no strangers to politics!

We can’t go anywhere in town without hearing people talk about the latest developments in the White House, Congress or the Supreme Court.

And with so many people in Washington employed in jobs related to politics, we work with a lot of our brides and grooms who are connected to that world.

When we travel outside of Washington to photograph weddings in other destinations, though, political discussions tend to be much rarer. Except for this year, of course. It seemed to us that everyone we met at every matrimony that we photographed was following the presidential election intently. Many brides even talked politics while getting into their wedding dresses!

Given the highly polarized nature of the campaign, it was refreshing to see the maid of honor and best man at this wedding have a little fun with the whole thing. During the reception at Philadelphia’s swanky Union League, the pair brought the house down when they made their entrance wearing Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump masks and waving American flags. It was such an entertaining and lighthearted moment that even the bride and groom didn’t mind being out of the spotlight for a moment.

Location: Union League, 140 S Broad St, Philadelphia, PA 19102.
