Wedding Photography at the St. Regis, D.C.

The St. Regis Washington, DC is one of the best wedding venues at which we’ve ever taken wedding photographs. The exterior of the building and the surrounding grounds are ornately beautiful; the staff is supremely professional, courteous and attentive; and the glamorous furniture and chandeliers in the lobby make couples feel like they have stepped into the luxurious world of a bygone era.

The thing that really separates the St. Regis from other high-end wedding venues in Washington, though, is its location. Situated on 16  th Street, one of the city’s main north-south thoroughfares, the luxury hotel is a mere two blocks from the one of Washington’s most famous landmarks: the White House.

Naturally, this newlywed couple wanted to take advantage of the location and get some wedding portraits in front of one of the most iconic buildings in the world. On the walk over to the White House, though, we passed St. John’s Episcopal Church, a beautiful yellow building almost as steeped in history as its neighbor. Perhaps unsurprisingly, given its location, the church has hosted a visit from every sitting president since 1816. Many of our country’s top elected officials have even attended services at St. John’s on Inauguration Day.

What caught our attention as wedding photographers, though, was not the history but the exterior architecture. The beautiful old front door, set between soaring white columns, provided a perfect “frame” for portraits of the new husband and wife. So we stopped for a moment, took this beautiful image and continued on to the White House.
