Professional Drone Photographer for Engagement Pictures

If you and your future spouse are looking for a destination wedding in an international city with access to some of the most breathtaking natural scenery in the world, then Hannover Germany might be the right place for you. As destination DC wedding photographers, we have photographed numerous weddings and engagement portrait sessions there. And we have found ways to incorporate the beauty of the Northern German countryside in almost every one. There is so much to choose from, that we could probably spend 20 years taking pictures of couples in and around Hannover and not run out of great backdrops for their love stories. From leafy and sun-speckled forests to pristine bodies of water to glorious fields of flowers, that part of the world has everything that you might want if you appreciate nature and want it to be a part of your wedding.

One of the best areas for wedding and engagement photography in Hannover is Altwarmbüchen. It is located on the very northeast edge of town and is filled with farms, protected woods and several small and medium-sized lakes. Those rural surroundings make the town a fantastic area for taking stunning images of you and your intended amid the beauty of the Northern German outdoors!

Destination Engagement Pictures by Lake

Altwarmbüchen has a lot of great spots for destination wedding and engagement photography, but its main attraction is probably the town’s eponymous lake. We have done several engagement sessions on the pathways that encircle the lovely Altwarmbüchener See, and our clients have been thrilled with the results. We even took photos of one couple wading in its waters with their wedding clothes on!

If engagement photos near (or in) a lake are not your cup of tea, the town has plenty of great locations on drier land. The farmlands just outside of Altwarmbüchen offer ever-changing backdrops of cornstalks, canola flowers, wheat and sunflowers. We have captured stunning images of future spouses holding one another in those fields.

A little farther from town, the landscape gives way to forests and the eerily beautiful Altwarmbüchener Moor. We have created unforgettable photographs of couples in love in both these areas. The moor in particular offers you scenery that you cannot get in many other places. Which makes it the perfect place for truly unique engagement images from a professional Washington DC wedding photographer.

One of our favorite spots in the area, though, is the Kirchhorster See. It is a small lake near the border between Altwarmbüchen and Kirchhorst, two small towns that are part of the larger Isernhagen municipality. The Kirchhorster See has a nice grassy area where locals can have a picnic; a charming, tree-lined pathway that runs around its circumference; and calm waters that are frequently filled with ducks and geese during the summer months. Most importantly for engagement photography, though, the Kirchhorster See also has a T-shaped dock that extends about 20 meters into the water. That feature opens up the possibility of some really creative shots like the one posted here.

We had started this future bride and groom’s engagement shoot a couple of months earlier. Unfortunately, it was during the dead of winter in Hannover. The unpleasantness of that required that we abandon the shoot before getting all the shots the couple wanted. Even though the spouses-to-be were great sports throughout, it was clear that they having a hard time keeping warm.

Professional Drone Photographer

The picture that they really wanted us to take was an aerial shot using our DJI Mavic Pro drone. So once the weather turned warmer, we took them back to the Kirchhorster See to finish their engagement portrait session. As we have mentioned elsewhere on this website, we have learned that, generally speaking, drone photography works best when the subjects are lying down and their faces can be seen. With that in mind, we asked these lovely spouses-to-be to stretch out on the surface of the dock and cuddle up close to one another. We flew our drone up above them and took numerous pictures of the two of them holding each other close.

What we especially love about the images that our drone captured is the way the empty water around the future bride and her groom-to-be makes them appear to be only two people in the universe. We have often noticed that when two people love one another enough to commit themselves to a lifetime together, the rest of the universe just melts away when they are in each other’s arms. As a result, images like this that communicate that are among the most unforgettable wedding and engagement photos around.
