Ocean and Daniel had a small courthouse wedding with only their closest family and friends. After their ceremony they wanted to have wedding portraits in a place that offered a variety of options such as artsy backgrounds, classy paintings and lot of creative possibilities. So we decided to take them to the National Gallery of Art in DC.

Wedding portraits at the National Gallery of Art in DC

The National Gallery of Art in DC is not just a museum. It is a beautiful space that offers variety. Clean architecture, soft, directional light and quiet corners where moments unfold naturally. And just enough movement like people walking through, pausing, observing so that Ocean and Daniel’s photos did not feel staged.

Our personal favorite of course is the bright blue rooster on the roof! It is one of the most unexpected details at the National Gallery formally known as Hahn/Rooster and donated by German artist Katharina Fritsch.
